Why does Firepass change the 'hosts' file to bypass IE proxy?

Hi!

I'd like to know why Firepass manipulates the hosts file, rerouting the configured IE proxy. This has the annoying effect that I can't load external pages in IE, I have to use Firefox.

- Why does it do that?

- How can I prevent it from doing it?

I'm just a lowly enduser, so maybe I missed something obvious...

Anyway, thanks for any help!

I'd recommend taking this one up with FirePass Tech Support. I'm not sure the reasons behind this, but as it's a general product question, and not something specific to customization/coding/etc., DevCentral probably isn't the best place to get answers.

This is part due to load balancing mechanics.

If you are an admin of the pc you need to change the host file to read only. F5 is apparently going to provide us with the option to have f5 override the host file in 6.0.2.4 I believe.
