Aug 27, 2010Why can I ping self IPs from LC console but not from the interface?
Hello All,
Can anyone offer an explanation why I can successfully ping self IPs from the Link Controller console but not if I am connected directly to a LC interface? I can only ping the self IP that I am currently connected to, (say the Internal Vlan 1.4 interface) but not to other interfaces (i.e. the External Vlan 1.1 interface).
Is there a specific configuration that must be done to have traffic pass through the Link Controller? I do have the default route and wildcard virtual server set to the default gateway pool. But traffic simply is not flowing through.
Any ideas, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
TRex

Hi Trex,
what exactly is it you're trying to achieve?
You need a mechanism to pass pings through the LTM (as with all other traffic) such as a NAT or SNAT or VS.
If you let me know what you're trying to do (e.g. I want my backend servers on vlan 'internal' to be able to send pings out to the internet via VLAN 'external' for example) then I should be able to go into more specifics.
Thanks,

Hello Chris,
Got the LC working and thanks for the reply.
Found out that these are true virtual IPs and for security reasons they are not ping-able.
Hope to create a detailed replacement guide to the 'Implementations" manual when I get some free time.
Best regards,
TRex
