VLAN FAILSAFE QUERY
Hi,
We are planning to enable VLAN Failsafe into our environment.
Our environment is into Active-Standby LTM setup.
As we are enabling VLAN-FAILSAFE in both the boxes Primary and Secondary, now the query is :
-
Lets say we enabled VLAN-FAILSAFE for only 2 VLANS out of the existing 40 VLANs.And for some reason that two VLANS are not reachable from Primary LTM Box, than based on the action mentioned( Lets sayFailover), will it do failover to the secondary box for only these two VLANS or for full box ?
-
Even as we are enabling VLAN-FAILSAFE in both the boxes, in that scenario or logic even the secondary box can also trigger failover incase of any specific VLAN unreachable, so can we configure the below into both the boxes ?
modify /sys db failover.vlanfailsafe.standbynoaction value disable

assuming v11, this is a full box failover, it doesn't failover a single traffic group.
2 can make some sense, although if a failover happened from unit 1 to unit 2 and unit 1 is still not ok then a failover back to unit 1 wouldn't happen. it wouldn't matter a lot either assuming you configure vlan failsafe on the important vlans, if there is no traffic the system just doesn't work.
I believe that sol is more focused on preventing reboots (if you configure vlan failsafe like that, it is the default) for a secondary unit if it becomes isolated.
