Virtual Server with URI rewrite profile not user accessible
All, I am working on a LTM with code 12.1.3. I have a virtual server (https://server.company.com/APP/) with HTTP URI rewrite rules that rewrite the URL to a server hostname (http://server.domain/APP/). That server.domain DNS record points to a private IP address which is not reachable by the users so they can't get to the rewritten URI. It is reachable by the LTM. Is there any way to have the user accessible virtual server (https://server.company.com/APP/) redirect the user to http://server.domain/APP/ and have it work for the end user with this setup?

V,
Check out this other DevCentral post and let me know if that looks like what you're trying to accomplish?

In particular check out the iRule frisco76 104868 posted.

Andrew,
Thanks for the reply and pointing me to that thread. It does not look like what we need, but could possibly use it in the future. I am also working w/F5 support and the great support guy has moved on from an iRule to a rewrite profile and a local traffic policy as outlined here https://techdocs.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ltm-implementations-12-1-0/17.html.

Do you have SNAT enabled for the Virtual Server? Considering you mentioned that the LTM is able to reach the private address, enabling SNAT should be able to resolve this, since it will translate the source address from the user to the floating self IP of the LTM (in the case of Automap SNAT).
Including the SNAT F5 article for reference:

Do correct me if I'm wrong, but hope it helps! :)
