Virtual server type for syslog
Hi, we have a standard virtual server which we are using for load balancing the TCP syslog service. We want to know if making standard virtual server is a good approach for this requirement or we can choose any other type (performance L4 for example).
Thanks

Sounds like you would do well with a Performance L4 in this case since you would not have any use for L7 functions.
Out of curiosity, how is the logs merged in the end? I mean, they would be spread out between members right? Or are you using priority groups for redundancy only?
Which syslog server are you using?

You would like load balancing TCP Service. L4 is better if you want modify TCP header. If you want just load balance traffic L2 or L3 are also a good option.
On which layer you would like intreract L2, L3 or L4 ?

Hi,
our requirement is just to load balance the server with fastest response. We don't want to offload any other thing on F5 (like ssl or authentication). Any server type would do if it is able to meet this requirement. i am not sure apart from L4 and standard if there is a server which could meet this requirement.
