Virtual Server Setup

Hi,

I'm trying to follow some vendor documentation to setup a F5 Virtual Server for their product. Their documentation states to create a pool and add nodes with a Service Port of 443. They then go on to create the Virtual Server with Source Address 0.0.0.0/0, FastL4 profile and with Service Port as 0 * All Ports. All other settings are default. The pool is then added as a Resource to the VIP.

Can someone confirm the behaviour if for example a connection attempts to connect to the VIP on a random port - example port 22 or port 1812.

Thanks,

  • the BIG-IP is a default deny device. If there is no Virtual Server - IP and port - open for the specific port, the connection will be TCP reset if its a TCP packet.
