Depends on how the internal F5 VS is configured compared to its pool members.

 

If you are doing HTTPS off load then the external F5 would need to use a HTTPS monitor but the connection string and response could be the same.

 

Also the page you are monitoring internally may not be allowed from the external F5.

 

Difficult to say without knowing more about the environment.
