virtual host stopped answering https
hey guys, I have an old pair of 1500s running 10.2.0, today out of the blue it just stopped answering 443 on one of my vips. Everything looked fine front and back just couldn't get there. trying to telnet to thevip on port 443 from the outside would get connection refused. But telnetting to the port on the machine itself it would connect. Tried to disable it and reenable it with no luck. I removed it and created the same VIP and it works fine again. Not other changes, all other VIPs work fine. This VIP is well over a year old so nothing new and no changes. I might add one of the guys in my shop tried creating a VIP the other day and everything looked good but it wouldn't answer. At the time I chalked it up to user error and removed it and recreated it and it worked fine then too. Anyone ever hear of this? I know I need to migrate these to my newer set of LBs just not at the top of the priority list. Thanks Joe

I've seen this on systems experiencing a memory leak or other internal issues. You could SSH to the box but not pass any traffic through VIPs. Was it just this VIP or all VIPs? Any other indications? If you're still using this dinosaur box and it happens again, look at system memory and CPU (tmstat, top, bigtop for starters). Also do a TCPDUMP on the external and internal interfaces to see if traffic is getting to or leaving the box.
