Virtual F5 Instance in Amazon
We have had to reboot our F5 instance in our amazon environment every day this week as our external users are unable to connect and we are unable to connect to the GUI to investigate the issue
The GUI displays retrieving and only comes back online after a reboot
Obviously we can just keep rebooting the device when this happens but it has become more frequent over the last few days so would like to find the root cause of the issue
If anyone has any ideas as to what the issue may be then that would be great

Which version of BIG-IP are you on? And there is no access to the "serial console" in the virtual edition, right? - jamiewilkinson_

Yes correct no access to the serial console. the one thing I didn't try was to see whether i could ssh to the device as we needed to get it back online ASAP Thanks, Below is the version we are using Latest Version 11.5.0.0.203 Base Operating System Linux/Unix, CentOS 5.6 F5 BIG-IP 200mbps Lab License - JG

Might be worthwhile keeping an ssh session open as the issue happens so frequently. Even after a reboot, there should be some old log files such as ltm.*.gz you can look into for any clues. - jamiewilkinson_

Ok thanks, will take a look and see if i can see any log files. i did look in the log section of the GUI but looks like the logs have cleared - JG

The GUI shows the current log file only. You need ssh into the box and look at the /var/log/ltm.1.gz, /var/log/ltm.2.gz, etc. - hoolio

I'd open a case with F5 Support on this so they can help you investigate. You should definitely not have a VE locking up.
