Viprion Host and Guest ISO upgrade and management

Recently I upgraded C2400 Viprion Host from code 12.1.3.4 to 12.1.3.7. After uploading 12.1.3.7 in Hosts it’s listed under GUI (System >> Software Management: Image List) and also in directory /shared/images but when I try to find new code in Guests then new image is listed in GUI (System >> Software Management: Image List) BUT not showing under directory /shared/images

Any idea about this kind of behavior in Viprion Guests.

  • Hi Ajeet-

As you’ve observed, in a Viprion environment, TMOS code loaded on the host is shared virtually to all the vCMP guests. Said code can be viewed through the GUI on the guest but will not be copied to the /shared/images directory. This design limits the hard drive usage/utilization on the entire system — think deduplication.

      Hi Ace,

Got the point. Can my vCMP guest accept below command as I use to upgrade using CLI or I have to follow the GUI approach to upgrade vCMP Guests.

install sys software image BIGIP-12.1.3.7-0.0.2.iso volume HD1.1 cpcfg --source=HD1.3 HD1.1

      Regards/ -Aj

You’ll have to use the GUI approach. The CLI doesn’t seem to recognize these virtually shared files.
