VIP SNAT

Greetings!

I am planning the deployment of a couple of LTMs. One of the requirements of this project is that when one server (on the internal network) generates outbound traffic, it has to be NATed to the VIP (the service IP, not the floating one).

Is this a good practice? Is there any chance that when the hosts on the external network respond to this traffic (towards the VIP) it will be balanced not being delivered to the same server that generated the traffic?

Thanks

  • Hi Renato,

Since F5 is a stateful device, it should be intelligent enough track the connection. I believe it won't load balance the response traffic.
