VIP is not forwarding
Hello all,
I have an issue with the virtual IP, It's not forwarding to the real servers.
I will explain my issue.
I have created an FTP server (My laptop with filezilla server). On the F5 side (BIG-IP 2000) i have created a monitor and a vip. All is green and available. When i'm trying to test FTP connection to the virtual IP with ftp command, I'm receiving 'Connection closed by remote host', But when i'm trying the real IP address, I'ts working. Somehow, the F5 is not forwarding my request to the real IP address via the virtual IP.
All is in the same segment and it's a test lab. I didn't configure an IRULE (It is necessary for the testing stage?)
Thank you. Shmulik

All the test computer, the F5 and the FTP server are on the same segment?

If so, then you need to configure the "Automap"

Can you post your config here? Did you select the ftp profile?

A few additional thoughts:
-
First and most important, as Sammo stated, because the client and FTP server are the same network segment, you need to apply a SNAT profile to the VIP to force return routing.
-
Have you applied an FTP profile to the VIP? FTP typically uses two ports to communicate: 21 for control and 20 for data. The FTP profile accommodates this communication.
-
Worst case open a tcpdump capture on both sides of the LTM and see if you can tell where the traffic breaks.
