Vcmp Network failover
Hi All,
I'm New to Vcmp and have a question. I've worked on standard hardware in the past in an active/standby pair. Does anybody know on a Vcmp guest if you can make your network failover IP different than your device IP? Currently, i'm running an active/standby Vcmp guest configuration. I'm using a bridged management network which is in the same network as the Vcmp host. I've found if you don't make the network failover IP match the device IP, it will show the device offline in the device group. I've tested this by changing it to an out of band network failover IP and it comes back to being offline unless I change it to match the device IP which is management.
Ive tested this by shutting down the switchport on the management interface for the Vcmp host, all of my active Vcmp guests failed over to the standby unit. Also, it doesn't appear you can change the device IP and it will grab the management IP by default. In the past, I always used 2 interfaces for redundancy for failover.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

do you mean failover unicast configuration (i.e. use selfip instead of mgmt ip in failover unicast configuration)? have you checked failover unicast configuration in all the devices in device list (device management > devices) on both units? i think it should work but it is the best practice to use both selfip and mgmt ip in failover configuration.
