Jul 13, 2016Loosely speaking, the purpose of the VCMP Host is to be a shelf where you can place guests. Here are a couple of thoughts to guide you.
If someone can help clarify further, please comment.
- The host has no fail over capability.
- The host has no part in the HA config of the guests.
- The guests that you build are normal BigIPs they just get Layer 2 from the Host
- The Host has no Layer 3 configuration related to the guest
- The guest has no knowledge that a host exists.
- Build the Layer 2 to the Host
- Delegate Layer 2 VLANs from the Host to the guest (payload or payloads and a HA VLANs) when configuring the guest in the VCMP Host config.
- Build the guest BigIP like you normally would using the VLANs it now has access to that is learned from the Host.
