Aaron - as usual, your description is dead on: "logical slicing" of the BigIP. Thanks for pointing it out in that context.

 

 

To add to your idea a bit further, this design makes it possible to bind rate classes to these various virtual servers to impose throughput (and resource, by extension) restrictions based on SLAs, customer groups, etc. This allows you to go real far in 'virtualizing' the BigIP itself.
