If you say VS "is only using HTTP" you mean that Service Port is set to 80/HTTP? If so I can bet that you did not set HTTP Profile for VS. Only VS with other setting than None for HTTP Profile is displayed when ASM policy is created. ASM needs HTTP profile to be able to understand HTTP protocol. As ASM is WAF (Layer7), understanding layer 7 (http) protocol is necessary for ASM to be able to protect web application.
