Using LDAP to HTTP Basic Authentication

Hi Folks,

I'm new in this forum, and i'm using F5 BigIP version 9.4.5. I would like to know if is possible use web basic authentication querying an external LDAP database using Irule. My necessity is requere an authentication before deliver a content to the client.

I think it require a license, but i'm not sure this. I saw that using AUTH event it is possible, but i don't know with my BigIP have a licence to do this.

Can someone explain it to me ?

Thank you in advance,

Mario

  • The AUTH commands require a feature module called Advanced Client Authentication (ACA). You could certainly do what you need with ACA an iRules. That said, ACA functionality has been superseded by a new product called Access Policy Manager, which can do much more and doesn't require as much iRule coding to perform the same functions. I'd recommend contacting your local F5 representative to discuss licensing options for either product.
