URL Rewrite

Currently using Windows ARR to rewrite urls but want to move to F5 LTM. Situation is   https://portal.domain.com should forward to https://portal.domain.com:8888 on the page there is then a link ...

not sure what ARR is, but what you are talking about is basically what the F5 does natively. You'll have a virtual listening on port 443 and then an attached pool that points to servers on port 8888. Not much else you need to do, other than if you want SSL termination, HTTP stuff (compression, oneconnect, persistence and the like).
