Apr 07, 2010Upgrading the F5 LTM's to 6900
Hi,
We are planning to upgrade the existing big-ip 3600 to 6900.
Is it recommended to use the same configuration file archived from the 3600 and install in 6900 ?

What version have you got on the 3600? If the 6900 is the same version then the SCF file will work fine, however, the SCF doesn't transfer any ASM settings or SSL certs. If different versions, it may be better to put the same build on the new appliance, use the SCF from the existing 3600, and then upgrade the new appliance to the latest version as the config will be upgraded too. Although the 6900 needs a minimum of v9.4.6 installed (the 3600 was v9.4.5) - so you may to upgrade to this minimum version on your existing appliance to do this. This is because I'm not entirely sure an SCF file will work fully across different versions.
Hope this helps.
