UCS Backup Suddenly Failing

I am suddenly getting an error on one of my BIG-IP vCMP units when I try creating a UCS archive file.   Saving active configuration...   sh: /var/tmp/cs_save_pre_script: Permission denied Error...

I agree to your point that ucs creation is run as root. But have you checked the permissions of the script files thats throwing the error. Would you mind listing them,

ls -ltrh /var/tmp/cs_save_pre_script
