Trouble With Custom Sideband Call - Irule Event Completes after Access Profile

Hello, I have a strange situation happening. I recently created an irule that performs a sideband call to an attribute server and parses through the response to retrieve attributes and create session variables. This iRule is currently executing as an iRule Event in an Access Profile with several other logic steps based on the session variables.

This set up fails but after looking at my logs I noticed that the access profile was completing (and ending in deny) prior to the completion of the iRule event which obtained and set the required session variables. It appears that there are some timing issues which cause APM to continue the Access Profile although the iRule Event has not completed its execution.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there any way to delay the execution of the Access Profile until the completion of the iRule Event?

I am currently running 11.5.1 HF 1

  • This is solved, we were incorrectly referencing the irule event by setting the ID to be the name of the irule.
