TLG Learning or Nexum

I have an opportunity to go for ASM training and I am wondering if anyone has had any experiences, good bad or otherwise, with TLG Learning or Nexum. They are literally side by side in Chicago, so my only choice now is which trainer to go with. I want to make a well informed choice but I can't find anything online about the quality of training in either company. Any guidance would be appreciated, or if this is an inappropriate question or in the wrong place any guidance on where I should post it would also be appreciated.

  • not an inappropriate question at all. I'd recommend calling them and asking questions about the instructors industry experience as well as their experience with the ASM itself. The content of the courses should be the same, so the difference in my opinion comes down to how helpful the instructor will be in tying the product to the problem you are trying to solve.
  • I know this is a old post by I leaned towards TLG learning when my company gave me some training $$$ because of the fact that they let me retake the class again for free with in a year. Again this worked out for me because we were mid of transition and I needed basic knowledge prior to implementation (meetings) and was able to refresh at a later date when we went full blown live. But I would agree with Jason you need to do your ground work, call them ask questions.

  • I actually ended up going with Nexum in Chicago about a month ago. Thank you for replying though. Nexum has a similar policy in that you can retake the class for a certain period of time, online if you like so I wouldn't have to travel again. I found the training was excellent. The only detractor was that the trainer left midday on friday and I was lead to believe it was a full four days of training, so there was no time to do the final labs or ask questions/follow up. But, he gave us all his email and told us that we could contact him about anything, not just the course but any questions we had and he would even remote in to help us if he had the time. All in all, I was very satisfied with Nexum training. ASM is not an easy topic to cram into a four day course, and he did very well considering. I just wish I had more time...hence the follow up course online which I, as you said, will probably take closer to when we want to implement the security. Thanks again.
