Strange behavior restoring .ucs file

Hello everybody,

I've seen a very strange behavior about .ucs files. I've tried to restore an .ucs file from an appliance with SN1 to another appliance with SN2. SN2 has not accepted these configuration. I've wondered why and I made a list with failure points:

1.- Are the same platform? Yes, but i thing this point is not important.

2.- Have the two appliances the same version of SW? Yes, basic BIGIP-9.4.3.1.4 without HF.

3.- Have the two appliances the same time? I suppose yes, but i thing this point is not important.

4.- Have the two appliances the same features licensed? No, the SN1 has a license of LTM and LC, and the SN2 only has licensed LTM feature.

Conclusion: I think that the reason of the failure restoring the .ucs file is point 4.

Could anybody help me?

Thanks a lot

Licenses are specific to the hardware for which they are provisioned. If you need to swap the licensing, contact F5 Support for assistance.

Another note: if the hostname of the unit you're installing the UCS on isn't the same as the unit you created only the shared configuration will be loaded. If the base configuration of the unit you're loading the UCS onto isn't configured none of the shared objects will be valid.

You might try reviewing SOL3499 for some key steps in restoring a UCS archive:
