Any idea what possible cause of the handshake failing?

You should first enable the logging of the Handshake failure reason on F5 by doing
tmsh modify /sys db tm.rstcause.log value enableThen reproduce the issue to view the logged reason, refer to the following table to view definition of each RST cause : https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K13223
