Refreshing the F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Certification marks an important change in our program. Previously, candidates would start their F5 Certification journey by passing the 101 Application Delivery Fundamentals exam followed by the 201 TMOS Administration exam. That is no longer the case.
Candidates will now achieve F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Certification by passing the following five F5 CAB exams.
- BIG-IP Administration Install, Initial Configuration, and Upgrade (F5CAB1)
- BIG-IP Administration Data Plane Concepts (F5CAB2)
- BIG-IP Administration Data Plane Configuration (F5CAB3)
- BIG-IP Administration Control Plane Administration (F5CAB4)
- BIG-IP Administration Support and Troubleshooting (F5CAB5)
For additional information please read the Updates to the F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Certification (F5-CA, BIG-IP) article.
F5 CAB exam details:
- Each exam has 30 multiple-choice questions.
- Each exam seat time is 30 minutes.
- The exams can be taken in any order. They are not sequential.
- As of today, the exams are delivered remotely via Certiverse. In the future, they will also be available at Pearson VUE testing centers.
- The cost for each exam is $50 USD.
What is happening to the 101 Application Delivery Fundamentals exam?
The 101 exam is being retired and will no longer be available for candidates to take, or retake, as of April 30, 2025.
What about candidates who have already passed the 101 Application Delivery Fundamentals exam, but have not yet passed the 201 TMOS Administration Exam?
Rest assured, candidates who have passed the 101 exam prior to April 30, 2025, will still be able to achieve the F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Certification by passing the 201 TMOS Administration exam during the time they are eligible. The 201 exam will be available exclusively to those candidates for up to two years from the date they passed the 101 exam.
What if a candidate has achieved the F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Certification in the past, but let it expire?
Great news! There is now a F5 Certified Administrator, BIG-IP Recertification exam (F5CABR) that candidates who’ve achieved this certification in the past, regardless of the date, can take to recertify.
Thank you again to everyone who helped develop these exams, and to everyone who took the beta versions of these exams. We had an awesome response! The data we gleaned from your participation and the feedback you provided was a huge help in ensuring that the production version of these exams maintains the highest levels of quality and validity.
Announcing a new F5 SME Certification - soon to be released! Since its inception, the F5 Certification program has been developed with the support and expertise of our community of SMEs from F5 as well as our partners and customers across the globe. Whether it’s participating in a domain analysis to determine what a candidate should know to achieve certification, to writing and reviewing items for our exams, to analyzing the data from beta exams during a standard setting, our SMEs have been an instrumental part of our program.
To provide an easier and more effective way for our SMEs to get involved utilizing their specific expertise, we will be introducing the F5 SME Certification later this quarter. Everyone who is F5 Certified will have access to the certification development training and the certification exam. Once achieved, Certified SMEs will be invited to contribute directly to the development of new exams and as well as refreshing existing ones. Stay tuned for more information coming your way soon. Email certdev@mail.education.f5.com with any questions or to volunteer.

Hello, The format for the exam is multiple choice. Some questions will have two correct answers, but it will be obvious that you must select the two correct answers. It will say so in the item.
Thank you. Heidi

Excellent news! I need to renew my F5-CA this year, and was wondering how that'd be handled with the new exams. Glad to hear I can just do the renewal exam as well.
Are there plans to offer these exams at in-person testing centers as well? I can do online if need be, but I've found that taking them in-person helps my performance a lot.
