Sep 18, 2009SSHD Process Stopped and Won't Start
While going over devices that our Network Automation software cannot access I saw an F5 in our preprod environment that is inaccessible.
I pinged the device to make sure it was up and it was.
So I logged into the F5, checked the services and sshd is stopped, I tried starting and restarting via the GUI but it won't start.
Any ideas what could have caused it and how I can fix it?

You could console into the unit and perform the following: - charlestips_149

I am at the console through the GUI and when I type "bigstart restart sshd" I get the following - The_Bhattman

Did you enter bigipipe or bigstart? - charlestips_149

Well, as of now I have limited connectivity so I am on the console from the GUI which has "bigpipe" already written and it states I don't have to type "bigpipe or b" before any of my commands. - The_Bhattman

I see. Sounds like your user account to the console is limited . You need admin access in order to get to bigstart - charlestips_149

I am logged in as admin which has the role of administrator set in the user settings, it also has "advanced shell" associated for the "terminal access", is that the same setting for the GUI console access? Sorry if these sound like remedial questions. - The_Bhattman

yes there is a difference between the two. One of them gives you only bigpipe command and the other drops you into a linux shell which accesses the operating systems. - charlestips_149

Is there a log that can be turned on with the GUI console to see any errors that happen when I am restarting the sshd process via the GUI console?
