Split an HA pair
I currently have an HA pair setup that is in a single datacenter A and is only performing LTM. We are opening a second datacanter B and would like to split the pair between them and add DNS. My question is if there is a way to have them perform LTM if they are in separate subnets? For example have them sync the VS's to one another, have them run from datacenter A's subnet and during a failure run from datacenter B's subnet? Basically have 2 IP's for each VS and loading the appropriate IP based on the BigIP that it is currently running from. If not I assume I need to manage them individually and create a VS on each system.

There is no way to exactly accomplish what you are thinking. An HA pair of BIG-IP's need to logically act as a single BIG-IP, that is why the same IP's are required. I would split them and use the DNS GSLB functions to distribute traffic between the two sites.

Thank you for the reply, I figured that was the case but wanted to confirm. My plan is to create a new VS for each site but use the same pool that is synced from one another. this way I only have one pool and set of irules to manage.
