Mar 27, 2015specific slefip for pool member monitoring
In an LTM pool, is it possible to mention a specific self-ip to do health monitoring on pool members? If yes how can it be done?

I tried creating a transparent monitor using the self-ip and attach it to the pool, but it didn't work. - StephanManthey

Hi jaked,
the bigd demon (responsible for the monitoring tasks) will pick the closest (according to TMOS routing table) self IP to initiate health checks. Both active and standby units will send monitoring requests.
The behavior can be changed only by using an so called external monitor allowing to set the source IP (i.e. based "dig" with the "-b" option).
An intro to external monitoring on TMOS can be found here.
Thanks, Stephan
