Apr 27, 2010Source_addr persistence on VE
Hi
Has anyone got source_addr persistence to work on F5 VE?
I have a pretty simple set up with 2 nodes in a pool, with http and https virtual servers for a site configured to use that pool with source_addr persistence.
When browsing the website, I am not getting any persistence at all - and nothing is being recorded in the Persistence Records Statistics when we hit the virtual server.
Any ideas what might be going wrong?
Cheers

Hi
Rebooted the BIG-IP VM and persistence records started to appear. Must have been a glitch.
However, source_addr persistence still didn't work with my site though :-(
The lack of server ssl profile facilities in the VM means that I can't use http profiles on our https virtual servers which in turn means I can't use cookie persistence across http / https in the same way that we have in production.
Means overall configuration using the VM is highly differerent to production setup, making the value of of the VM much less than what it could be.
Come on F5 - why the ssl limitation?
The hardware limits, license and the bandwith limit in the VM are enough to stop this being a production viable VM. Please remove the ssl limitations as it compromises setting up test environments which is where the VM solution is its most valuable.
I'm not about to spend 12k on a F5 just for testing! You should commercialise the VM - making a free/very cheap dev/test version and then a more production viable version that would be suitable for DR.
