SNMPv3 Informs configuration
Dear all,
I am trying to configure SNMPv3 in my F5 clusters, TMOS v10.2.4 build 577.0 and 10.2.4 build 732.
The agent is already configured and the poll is working flawlessly.
I am facing some problems with the Inform configuration.
There is no GUI for configuration, I used this tmsh command line and, according to SOL6821, restarted snmpd to find the 'oldEngineID' field in the snmpd.conf file:
tmsh modify sys snmp traps add { test_trap { auth-protocol sha auth-password 'same pw as agent' privacy-protocol des privacy-password 'same pw as agent' security-name 'same user as agent' security-level auth-privacy host 10.242.74.152 port 162 community version 3 engine-id 'oldEngineID field in snmpd.conf' } }
The configuration is accepted but the Nagios server has no incoming traps.
I started tcpdump on F5 but no packets are emitted when I generate snmp events (i.e. disable/enable a different interface etc.).
I configured v2c inform via GUI and the Nagios server received informs properly, but I need v3.
I have been looking on the forum and on google but nothing helped so far.
Did I do anything wrong?
Thanks in advance.

i understand snmptrap v3 is supported on 11.2.0 and later.

nitass,
Sorry for the delay, thank you very much for your information. We decided to configure v3 polls and v2 traps until migration to newer TMOS version.
