Single Boot Volume
Hi,
I have downloaded and installed BIGIP-17.5.0-0.0.15.ALL-vmware.ova
When I check System > Disk Management
There is only a single Volume HD1.1
Under the following article https://my.f5.com/manage/s/article/K14946#s3
I was expecting more than this
ALL
This image type is suitable for a BIG-IP VE system provisioned with multiple modules or F5 products such as BIG-IP ASM. By default, there are two slots or boot locations available for upgrade or to apply a hotfix. Additionally, there should be sufficient space to install a third slot.
Is this correct or have I missed something during the installation?
Or is there a way to create the additional volumes, the disk is 125gb and I am building out as a test, so I can be disruptive to the deployment.
Thanks
Hi sjy2025
You are correct that the "ALL" OVA image for BIG-IP VE is designed to support multiple boot locations (slots), which allows for upgrades and hotfixes to be installed on separate volumes. However, by default, only a single boot volume (HD1.1) is created during the initial deployment. This is expected behavior.
To create additional boot volumes (such as HD1.2 or HD1.3), you do not need to do anything special during the initial installation. Instead, the additional volumes are created during the upgrade or hotfix installation process. When you install a new software image or hotfix, the system will prompt you to select an existing boot location or specify a new one (e.g., "2" for HD1.2). The system will then create the new volume and install the image there.
