Should I post SAML IdP metadata xml file online?

I am configuring an IdP service for SpringShare applications on APM. SpringShare is requesting that we post the IdP metadata file on the internet:

 

 

We always exchange metadata files with Service Providers via SFTP. Is there an issue with posting a signed IdP metadata file on the internet? SpringShare posts their SP metadata online.
