Session variable in the Host field of the terminal services

Hello, I’m a total newbie so sorry if this has been answered somewhere else..

I’m trying to automatically generate a terminal services WebTop shortcut using a session variable in the Host field of the terminal services setup page.

The problem is with retrieving the session variable. At the moment we store the users workstation DNS name in the AD schema but I’m not sure how to get the Firepass to extract the information.

We have implemented dynamic group mappings, so the AD account integration with the Firepass is in place and have turned on extended logon information to view the session variables, which the Firepass can currently “see”, but they to not include extended AD schema information for the user.

If this is not possible has anyone got any ideas as to how to map a terminal service session to a users office PC without having to manually create multiple resourse groups for each (200) user?

We also use a Radius server but I’ve read that Radius attributes are not converted in to session variables, is this correct?

Many thanks in advance,

Paul

PS Sorry if I’m being stupid

  • Yes, I have been doing this for a very long time. As long as the AD attribute is visible you can go to maintenance -> Troubleshooting tools -> Save users session variable into the logon reports.

Now go to the logon report and click on your name. It will show the list of AD variables pulled back. Just insert the correct session variable.
