saving the configuration in tmsh ?
Hello Friends,
I have been working on few of f5 devices of version 11 wher i i Use tmsh for doing any changes.
My question is do we need to issue save sys config all the time we make changes or tmsh saves automatically when we exit the shell? I can see the config was reflecting in bigip.conf without saving it by issuing the command but still was wondering 2 if reboot of device will erase the config change done?
What are all the cases where we need to run save sys config ?
please provide any relevant information or links to understand.
Thanks in advance.
sam

Changes made using tmsh are not automatically saved to the configuration files. Changes can be saved by issuing the save /sys config command. Clicking a finish/update button in the web interface will also save changes made with tmsh. If you are working with GTM it does automatically save GTM specific tmsh changes every 15 seconds by default. See this documentation:

If you need to modify system db values, those are saved automatically, as they are not stored in the normal config files. Thus it might be wise to list the initial value first if you need to revert. See SOL16953: BIG-IP system database variables are automatically saved when modified
