Routing to a VS from another VS

Is it possible to route to a virtual from another virtual server on the same big ip box?

 

 

Why would I want to do this? Well I have a current virtual server set up and routing correctly. I want to modify the routing to this VS but maintain current routing until I have determined the changes are what people want.

 

 

I was thinking I could set up a new virtual server with the existing VS as a pool member. This all sets up okay but when I try to send a message the request times out. I presume the return message is not getting routed correctly. The LB_FAILED is getting triggered in my irule on my new VS.

 

 

Any ideas or suggestions?
