root password reset with admin credentials
There are three ways to go about this:
-
Login to the GUI as admin then reset root password as you described. Your admin session will restart but this restart shouldn’t affect production traffic
-
Login to GUI as admin. Add/change shell access for admin account to enable. Login to the CLI as admin. If you’re at the tmsh prompt, type run util bash or bash. Then type passwd root at the command prompt.
-
Login to GUI as admin. Add/change shell access for admin account to enable. Login to the CLI as admin. If you're at tmsh prompt, type modify auth password root

Thank you.
admin session will restart - means the browser or any webservices inside the F5 ? I was in an impression that we need to connect a console and reboot the f5 then reset the root pwd - in fact this is what f5 tac also told. could you re-confirm on this pls, and can ensure that no production impact as well. ?
