Replicating GTM Configurations between HA
Hi,
I have a pair of BIG-IP devices running in a HA cluster. I can see the configurations are getting replicated between the LTMs.
Today I have turned on the GTM facility in both the devices. I configured the active LTM with DNS(GTM) a few basic configs. But I don't see that configurations getting replicated to other peer BIG-IP device. Is this expected and how it works?

Yes that is expected. The configsync process for LTM does not sync the GTM(GSLB) configuration. You must configure a GTM sync group.

So this discussion seems to hint that GTM (Big-IP DNS) can be setup on HA members but that it requires that each member be treated as a separate GSLB system for a data synchronization point of view.
If that is done then these two members can be put in a HA group with a floating IP.
Trying to understand how to make the GSLB high available on a single VIP. Haven't found good information on this and consultants said we don't setup GSLB in HA-- we create separate name servers..
Thanks..

To clarify you have 2 standalone GTMs but want to use a single GSLB listener (vip) ip addr?

Yes, I guess that would be the situation. From reading through a few of these postings and it sounds like it is possible to put GTM on both members of the HA pair.. and then the vip can float the serving IP to get to whichever one is the active member of the HA pair... While GTM does not work with HA, it does its own synchronization between members.. The VIP is a LTM VIP that is HA. And that is what I'm trying to understand.
If it isn't this way.. perhaps another way so that a VIP can be high available service and continues to serve clients routing traffic to any active GTM.
I need the DNS service to remain active even if I take the HA member down for maintenance, upgrades, or other operations.. And yes there is another GTM instance as the secondary DNS. Looking to make each of them HA.

You need to issue gtm_add command on the standby(LTM+GTM) device to recieve DNS related configurations.

Right, each member needs to be added with their own self IP because they need to constantly communicate independently.
