redirect SMTP port 25 to port 465

Hello,

I have just begun testing the load balancing of Microsoft Exchange Front End server services (OWA, POPS, IMAPS, SMTPS) and have a question about redirecting SMTP ports. I have my SMTP virtual server using port 465, passing traffic to a pool whose member is set to port 25. This is working fine, but I was wondering if I could somehow take any traffic that is coming in to port 25 and redirect it to the Virtual Server using port 465. The reason behind this is that most of our clients who will use this server to send mail currently have their SMTP port set to 25. This would eliminate the need for them to change their client settings right away.

I am new to the BigIP and iRules, so if there is a simple way to do this, i would appreciate any information. Thank you!

This sounds like basic port translation. All you'd need to do is create a Virtual Server listening on the IP you want on port 25, and then have the pool it points to have pool members listening on port 465. Then, make sure that port translation is enabled (it is, by default), and you should be there.

This is, of course, basic BIG-IP configuration and doesn't use iRules at all, so it would be a prime candidate for the LTM forums once they exist, instead of the iRule forums.
