Is there a compelling reason to not just configure a standard virtual server pointing to a pool for this?

 

 

If you did want to use a rule, you could create a datagroup (called a class in the bigip.conf) with the virtual server name (or virtual server IP address) and the pool, get the virtual server name with [virtual name], and then use the findclass command to look up the pool for the corresponding virtual server name.
