Question related to site performance on LTM

Hi All,

I have a question on a site performance improvement. I have a site https://xyz.com where we have done http to https redirect on two different VIP's.

Questions

  1. Can i created only one single VIP for https and create an iRule to redirect from http to https.
  2. On the same https VIP, Can i use oneconnect profile to improve performance.
  3. My ultimate goal is to improve the performance. Please suggest.

Thanks Ashish

  • Hi,

You need to have two separate VS for http and https.

There is several ways to improve performances :

    • SSL cipher suite on client and server side
    • tcp parameters (you can test lan-optimized profiles)
    • Compression and Caching for http content (compression and acceleration profiles)
    • add "timing on" on events within your irules and analyze performances with iRule Editor

The best would be to identify the pain point first and then start playing with parameters. You can also switch to Performance L4 Virtual Server type to check if performances are better (need to remove http and ssl profiles and irules)
