Question regarding rate shaping
Hi Guys,
I have a question regarding how rate shaping works in F5 LTM/Link Controller. I have been researching for this topic for quite some time but have found different answer for it.
Lets say I have a virtual server which applied rate shaping limit of 10 Mbps
1) Does each connnection to the virtual server bound to the 10 Mbps limit? For example, if there is 10 connection then each connection will have 1 Mbps bandwidth.
2) Or each connection will have separated 10 Mbps limit? For example, if there is 10 connection then each connection will have 10 Mbps bandwidth.
Which of the above is the correct answer to describe how rate shaping works?
Thank you
Regards

1) really. But there's no guarantee that the bandwidth will be split so evenly.
Any connections assigned to a Rate Class share the bandwidth available within it, regardless of how those connections are assigned to that Rate Class (options are Virtual Server, iRule or Packet Filter). - lwlim_122776
