QSFP+ breakout cables (MTP to LC) - How to extend
Good morning,
I'm looking at different options to extend my 40GbE QSFP+ breakout cables (MTP to LC) connection.
The patch cord is only 3m, and I'm looking to extend that connection to 50m.
Would using a 12 fiber strand MTP male to female cable as an extension be a good solution ?
Thank you Jason

We are just about to do this very thing. Another large F5 customer is already doing this here in town. Just use a couple of LC couplers like this, https://www.firefold.com/fiber-adapter-lc-lc and the necessary LC fiber to your switch. Our local F5 engineer confirmed the validity of using these.

I should of specified, we are not allowed to use any couplers in our environment

Well, you are required to use the F5 transceivers, but according to this SOL you can use a longer equivalent cable and still be supported. The caveat being F5 won't support the cable if there are connectivity issues so it will be a fine line to walk if you encounter any(most likely won't as light through glass is generally light through glass). I would double check with you local F5 rep to confirm the cable you plan to use. You will more likely want to find an 8 fiber MTP male to LC male fan cable like these, http://fibertronics-store.com/8-LC-Duplex-QSFP-MTP-MPO-Multimode-OM3-2mm-Breakout-Cable_c918.htm.

Technically I think the MPO/MTP QSFP end is female.
