Pushing data groups via EM

When creating a changeset, I can use another device as a template for all sorts of configuration options. However, I don't see a way to do this with data groups.     It appears that I could just...

Are your data groups string-type? Or something else?

I'd expect to be able to just push the class config but haven't tried
