ping - change source to floating IP?

Is it possible to change the source IP address of the ping command on an LTM to one of the floating IP addresses?

 

 

What I'm really trying to do is figure out a way I can update the arp table entry on the router with a new mac address. I can't seem to source a packet from the LTM with the external floating IP address. The ping command seems to indicate it supports changing the source address, but in practice, it doesn't seem to work that way.

    Are trying to do this so that if the LTM fails over the ARP table is updated on the router?

     

     

    If that is what the goal is, then you should look into MAC Masquerading.

    Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do, and I am aware that Mac Masquerading is the ultimate solution. However I need an interim solution.
