persistent data from f5 to web app.

Is there a way to use socket.io to create a connection to the F5 using icontrol to pull retrieve data constantly? I have used PHP and SOAP but i would like view constantly changign data without making tons of reuqests. socket.io would allow for a persistent connection. is this possible ? or is there a better solution?
