Sep 08, 2009Persistence behavior for node failures
Hi All,
I was wondering if someone can give me a quick answer for my two questions.
1. If a pool member is bounced & the virtual server is using 8 hour persistence, will the client connections be immediately re-routed to the other pool members? Is there a setting that needs to be set to enable this?
2. If nodes are taken out of a pool for patching, what happens when they are put back in the pool? Will the existing sessions persistence need to time out before these nodes can begin being load balanced?
Thanks!

1. Yes it will get re-routed and the 8 hour persistance will now apply to the new pool member. Of course this is assuming the persistence is based on the source IP address
2. If the persistence is based on source address then the connection will never return until it idles out or the existing pool member bounces.
