Peer Management Address Clarification

Just upgraded to version 10 on one of my LTM's and had to configure the Peer Management IP to get him online. I used one of the network failover IP's for the peer unit. Should I be using the IP address for the Management port of the peer instead? I found some documentation on askf5.com but I wasn't sure if that's what it was saying exactly.

  • They way I set it up was that i cross connected one port from the active unit and the second unit directly and created a failover_VLAN with self addresses. The addresses were a /30 private address Then i simply used that as a my Peer management IP address.

In my design I kept the Management IP address, High Availability addresses for syncing and Peer Management IP address seperate so that one does step on the other.

I hope my experience helps you
