Nodes behind proxies

We have an odd scenario we need help with. We have a pool with nodes which must be reached via a proxy. The nodes will have public IPs, but to reach them we have to go through an on-site proxy. Is there a way to tell a node that it's behind a proxy?

I don't think this can be done natively, but it could be done with an iRule. I haven't tried this one, but it looks similar to your scenario if your proxy supports
CONNECT
: Virtual to enable proxy-unaware applications to make outbound TCP connections via a HTTP CONNECT method. Another approach might be to transform the URI part of the request into a full URL for the forward proxy to use.
