I'm trying to select a node based on DNS resolution of [HTTP::host]. Using this iRule:
when HTTP_REQUEST {
NAME::lookup [HTTP::host]
}
when NAME_RESOLVED {

You should be fine with those version.
The thing is, to make it work you will need to configure the DNS on the BIGIP. By default this will use named.
