Node fqdn - external dns

I need to set up node through fqdn but the query must go to dns server which will be provided by client. I can't use dns set in tmos/big ip (resolv.conf).   Is it possible?

Hi,

 

Did some testing in my lab and I don't think it's possible what you want.

 

When configuring a node with FQDN, the F5 appliance uses the configured DNS servers to resolve to an IP-address. Needed to be sure, so used TCPDUMP and seeing the F5 contacting the configured DNS server when creating a node with FQDN.

 

If you do not want to configure the F5 with external DNS servers and your local DNS servers cannot forward requests to external DNS server, you can't solve this.

 

Maybe you can use conditional forwarding on your DNS servers so forwarding only takes place for this 3rd party external server.
